Caring Network (CN)
The Caring Network provides weekly free psycho-educational groups to children between the ages of 4-14 who have witnessed or experienced violence in their home, school, or community.
On behalf of clients and their families, group facilitators may also make referrals to additional services, help facilitate victim compensation applications and provide individual supportive services.
Caring Network groups provide children with a safe space to share their experiences. Through the program, children can work through blame and guilt associated with abuse, which reduces isolation and increases self-esteem.
Group facilitators help children:
Identify and express their feelings
Learn appropriate coping skills
Resolve conflict and tension without violence
Manage anger
Define abuse, bullying and violence
Create a safety plan for themselves and their families
Improve their self-image
Reduce any isolation and shame they may feel
