Empowering Families for Success (EFS)

The Empowering Families for Success (EFS) Program strengthens and empowers families so children can be successfully maintained in the community and reduce out-of-home placements.

Based on our philosophy of family need and choice, our Flexible Support team works with families and youth ages 0-22 with acute mental health needs approved by the Department of Mental Health (DMH). Our team provides in-home clinical services in the Greater New Bedford and Greater Fall River areas including:

  • Assisting to strengthen the well-being of youth and their families, promote family cohesion and successful community living.

  • Clinical Services to home and community-based interventions that support youth and family’s chosen treatment goals that focus on interventions and therapeutic behavioral supports

  • A therapeutic support specialist to help youth develop communication skills, social interactions, pre-vocational skills, and self-confidence necessary for participation in age-appropriate activities.

  • A peer mentor to provide strength-based peer-to-peer education, coaching and modeling based on sharing one’s lived experience of mental health challenges to inspire and validate youth struggling with similar challenges.

  • A family partner to help navigate the child-serving systems, identify available services in the community, develop connections with self-help or support groups and support the parent/caregiver in reaching goals.

  • Flexible Support Groups for social and emotional skill building, community integration, and educational and vocational preparation.
