Parents As Teachers (PAT) is a program that works with all families who are expecting a child, to those who have a child up to the age of five years old and reside in Fall River, or surrounding towns. The emphasize is on parent-child interaction, development centered parenting, and family well-being.

What is the purpose of the PAT program?

The purpose is to:


  • Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development & improve parenting practice
  • Provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues
  • Prevent child abuse and neglect
  • Increase children’s school readiness and school success

How does the PAT program help?

The PAT program works with parents from prenatal to kindergarten age by completing family centered assessments and following a structured curriculum to enhance knowledge of child development and increase parent child bonding and interaction through the use of fun developmental activities.

Each participant is assigned a certified Parent Educator. A certified Parent Educator will provide personal visits, group connections, screening, and resource networking.
