Older Children & Special Needs Adoption Program Information
What is the purpose of the Older Children & Special Needs Adoption program?
Provides services for children who have been in the custody of the Department of Children & Families who have the goal of adoption. These children are often older, members of a sibling group or of a particular ethnic group. They may have special needs to include physical, emotional and/or medical difficulties.
How does the Older Children & Special Needs Adoption program help?
Our Adoption Program specializes in helping large sibling groups and medically complex children find their forever family. While we provide adoption services for children aged nine months to eighteen, most of the children in our program are school aged (5-18). The program assesses the children's needs and identifies the type of family best suited to meet their needs.
Who makes up the Older Children & Special Needs Adoption program?
A team of trauma informed adoption workers who provide training, support and guidance through the process of adopting through foster care. Additionally, the team also consists of adoption case managers who provide adoption case management services to children with a goal of adoption, who are in the care and custody of the Department of Children and Families.
